GoesTools Receiver Interface

Work is almost completed on our GoesTools satellite receiver interface.  GoesTools is used to receive the HRIT/EMWIN satellite data stream.

GoesTools runs on a Raspberry pi.  A new application for the Raspberry pi has been written to serve data to the Windows pc.  This application also interfaces to a Nextion 3.5" display  to show receiver stats.

To help with alignment, you can click on the Vitribi number to see a larger screen.

A new ingest program has been created to allow Weather Message to receive data from the Raspberry pi.

This makes for a nice and clean installation.

GOES-R Beginners Guide

A GOES- R Beginner’s Guide for Users is now available. The guide includes steps for using cloud services and tools to acquire, analyze, and visualize GOES-R Series data:

The guide describes the GOES-R Series satellite instruments and ground system and outlines access points for retrieving products including the NOAA repository and cloud-based platforms. Sample scripts are provided to demonstrate visualization techniques, such as how to create a multiband RGB true-color image. The final section on frequently asked questions (FAQs) responds to typical user inquiries and offers workarounds to common obstacles.

Map Layers Update

The Map Layer installer on the website has been updated with the latest NWS changes through June 2020. 

Weather Message 4.5 Released

Weather Message 4.5 came out of beta on 4/10/2020.  It is now available on the regular downloads page.  The full installer will now help new users register for a Weather Wire user name and password.  The Quick Start Guide was updated with this release.

Users that purchase 4.5 will now get a registration code that automatically registers Weather Wire.

I know it took forever to release 4.5.  I kept waiting on the NWS to decide the fate of EMWIN.  Thank you to all that tested the beta's over the past year(s).

Note:  I plan on keeping the EMWIN ingest engine and options in the software for 6 months to a year.  If nothing develops, that application and options will be removed.
